Dunedin to Manapouri

My journey around the south took me a couple of days, there was loads of beautiful scenery but only a few places of special interest, I include a few below. I was very lucky with the weather as it would have been quite a boring journey if it had been raining.

Called into Dunedin on my way to stock up and got a nice picture of the cathedral which I had previously visited without a camera.

An area of beach known as the petrified forest, as the beach has been eroded it has exposed a vast area of petrified trees. There was also supposed to be penguins there but they are still hiding from me.

Slope point, the most southerly part of mainland New Zealand. No gift shops and cafes like the Lizard Point.

I think that rock out there is probably the furthest point south.

Unfortunately it has been closed for a number of years due to earthquake damage. There is a big concrete block across the entrance.

I camped near Lake Manapouri, intending to drive to Milford Sound the next day as the weather forecast for later in the week was not good. It looks like a change coming in now.
