Going North

We left Perth about mid day on the 4th July after having the tyres changed and the wheel alignment set on the van. We went north to Gingin. Where we found a delightful farm camp site “West Willow Farm Caravan Park” It was very cheap had a good atmosphere.

Geese checking out the van and looking for tit bits.

The next morning we moved on early as we intended to get to Cervantes that afternoon. We visited a honey farm on the way, tasted and purchased some nice honey. As a retired beekeeper it was interesting to talk to them about the logistics of honey farming in Australia. They were a slightly bigger scale than my 24 hives, they were running 1800.

We stopped at the Gravity Discovery centre. I would like to have spent time here but it was not a short visit scenario, It was quite expensive and I would have needed at least half a day if not more to see the complete exhibition.

There was the opportunity to repeat Galileo experiments on gravity by dropping water bombs from a leaning tower “ Galileo did it from Pisa”. There was a planetarium, telescope and many other simple gravity experiments to try. Also there was some good bushwalks. I was disappointed that I did not have the time to stay.

We continued to Cervantes calling in at Lancelin on the way to see the Sand dunes. These were massive going as far as the eye could see in each direction.
