Nambung National Park. “Cervantes”

 

The attraction at Cervantes is the Nambung National Park which is famous for what is known as The Pinnacle Desert. In this sandy desert are thousands of limestone pinnacles that range in size up to 5m tall and 2m thick at the base.  They were formed thousands of years ago by plant roots forming a cementation of calcite within the dunes. They have become exposed as the desert winds have shifted the sands.

It took a few hours to drive around the area and I took many photographs a few are below.
